Why Storytime?
Why Storytime Stones
Human beings have always told stories.
Long before books, before movies, before podcasts and Tik Tok and campfire ghost stories, we were scratching pictures onto cave walls trying to explain ourselves to one another. Stories are how we pass down wisdom, preserve traditions, and make sense of complicated things like love, loss, courage, jealousy, hope, and heartbreak.
Stories are how we connect.
And if you think about it… every person you have ever met is really just a collection of stories.
Where they came from.
What shaped them.
What broke them.
What healed them.
What they carry with them.
That idea fascinates me.
And people are not the only things with stories.
Gemstones have stories too.
Every gemstone you see on this website began its journey billions of years ago, deep inside a violent, chaotic young planet still taking shape. Before human beings existed. Before trees. Before dinosaurs. Before language itself.
These stones were shaped by unimaginable heat, crushing pressure, tectonic movement, flowing water, volcanic activity, and time beyond human comprehension.
Some gemstones traveled underground for millions of years before reaching the surface. Some were fractured, compressed, folded, melted, or slowly transformed into something entirely new.
And somehow… all of that history leaves fingerprints behind.
Bands.
Patterns.
Colors.
Textures.
Inclusions.
Little clues about where they have been.
Sometimes we know exactly what story a gemstone is telling.
Sometimes we can only guess.
And honestly, I kind of love that mystery.
Because storytelling lives in mystery.
Why I tell Stories
When I started sculpting gemstones, I realized pretty quickly that I didn’t just want to list pendants on a website like generic products on a random store shelf.
That felt empty.
These gemstones feel alive to me. Ancient. Personal. Full of character.
I felt like they deserved more. Plus I love stories.
So I started writing stories for them.
Sometimes the story is about the gemstone itself. Sometimes it’s about the person I imagined wearing it while I was sculpting it. Sometimes it’s inspired by a real memory, a real person, or a real emotion.
Sometimes it’s funny.
Sometimes romantic.
Sometimes completely fictional.
Sometimes deeply true.
But every Storytime Stone begins the same way:
With curiosity.
With wonder.
With the feeling that there might be something hidden beneath the surface waiting to be revealed.
And over time, as you wear a gemstone, something else happens.
The gemstone begins carrying your story too.
It goes where you go.
It sits near your heart during ordinary days and life-changing moments alike.
It becomes part of your memories. Part of your journey. Part of what shaped you.
And long after all of us are gone, that gemstone will still exist somewhere in the world… quietly carrying every chapter it has ever survived.
Its story.
My story.
And yours too.
