About the Piece

I started working on this thinking it was going to be a freeform teardrop with these wing-like folds running through it.

That’s what you see up top.

Then I got to the bottom half… and honestly, I got a little bored with the folds.

So I changed it and added the swirl.

That’s kind of how it goes sometimes.

Jade is a hard stone, which is great because it lets you get those sharp, clean lines—but it also means it takes time to shape and polish.

I knew it was going to be special before I even finished polishing it—right at the end of the shaping stage. Not all of them hit like that. But this one did. And when it was done… it just felt right in the hand.

That’s always a good sign.

I decided to pair it with these light blue Sinai turquoise beads—soft, calm, not screaming for attention.

On paper, lavender and turquoise shouldn’t work.

But side by side? A killer match IMO.

It’s all pastel, a little unexpected, but balanced. You can wear it with something dark and it pops, or something light and it blends right in.

It doesn’t fight for attention.It just knows it belongs.

Purple jade forms deep within the earth under intense pressure over long periods of time.

It’s a slow process—one that creates strength, density, and that smooth, almost buttery finish jade is known for.

This piece carries that history in it.
